The difference between the three stainless steel surface polishing methods

For stainless steel parts, there are three commonly used polishing methods: mechanical polishing, chemical polishing, and electrochemical polishing. Each of these three methods has its own advantages and disadvantages.

1. Mechanical polishing.

       The advantage is that the leveling of the parts after processing is good, and the brightness is high. The disadvantage is that the labor intensity is high, the pollution is serious, and the complex parts cannot be processed, and the gloss cannot be consistent, the gloss does not last for a long time, and it is stuffy and rusted. It is more suitable for processing simple parts, medium and small products.

2. Chemical polishing.

       The advantages are that the investment in processing equipment is less, the complex parts can be thrown away, the speed is high, the efficiency is high, and the corrosion resistance is good. The disadvantage is that the brightness is poor, there is gas overflow, ventilation equipment is required, and heating is difficult. It is suitable for processing small batches of complex parts and small parts that do not require high brightness.

3. Electrochemical polishing

       Its advantages are that the mirror gloss is maintained for a long time, the process is stable, the pollution is less, the cost is low, and the corrosion resistance is good. The disadvantages are high pollution resistance, large one-time investment in processing equipment, tooling and auxiliary electrodes for complex parts, and cooling facilities for mass production. Suitable for mass production, mainly used in high-end products, export products, products with tolerances, its processing technology is stable, and the operation is simple.
