① Acute toxicity, LD50 value
As shown in Table 6.1, the LD50 values of titanate coupling agents are all above 5 g/kg. Compared with the LD50 value of table salt we eat in our daily life, which is 3.8 g/kg, it can be said that titanate coupling agents The acute toxicity is quite low.
② Irritating to the skin
The titanate coupling agent is highly irritating to the skin, and attention should be paid to it during operation (Table 6.2). This is because the pH values of the aqueous solutions of various titanates are all acidic (PH = 2.4 to 4.1). The irritating effect of TTS, 55 and 238S on the skin will gradually weaken, but some varieties show the opposite tendency (Figure 6.1).
③ Mutagenicity
According to the results of the pre-test conducted in accordance with the method stipulated in the Article No. 107-2 (March 8, 1979) of the Labor Standards Director of the Japanese Ministry of Labor, the titanate coupling agents were all negative, indicating that their carcinogenicity or genetic factor Variability was small; similar results were obtained in the United States.
